ICN Yokohama, Japan
The last week of May, many of us gathered in Yokohama, Japan for the International Council of Nurses (ICN) convention. The Japan NCF (Nurses Christian Fellowship) held a welcome dinner at a famous tempura restaurant ( photo 1). Yum.!! Japanese food is delicious.
The Japan and Korea NCF groups worked hard to assemble an NCFI exhibit at the ICN convention (photos 2-3). There were 4,600 nurses from all over the world who attended this international week long event. Many nurses stopped by the NCFI booth, picked up information and talked with NCF members. Thank you to Chieko ( Japan) and her excellent team, Hyesook (Korea) for her assistance in printing brochures and being at the booth, Barbara Parfitt (Scotland) for the "give aways" and help, WonHee Lee (Korea) for her assistance with the booth and for her presentation at the Servant Leadership seminar.
On Wednesday evening, the Japan NCF hosted a special dinner (photo 4). Twenty five nurses attended including 4 students from St Luke's College of Nursing in Tokyo ( Photo 5). What a great time of fun and fellowship. Thank you JNCF !!
Our hotel in Yokohama overlooked the harbor. John and I enjoyed time just relaxing in the park and walking along the harbor ( photo 6).
On Thursday May 31, JNCF sponsored an afternoon seminar on Servant Leadership. The team did a great job of organizing this speciual event (photo 7). About 40 nurses attended ( photos 8-10). I presented material on leadership and the challenges facing nurses in this new age of information technology and change. Three nurse leaders shared their experiences and insights on servant leadership. There was time for discussion and ministry. To God be the glory. Many were blessed.
